Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Senator Kashim Shettima Mustapha, GCON, is the current Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. VP Shettima is a Nigerian politician and Agricultural Economist.
He attended Lamisula Primary School in Maiduguri, where he studied from 1972 to 1978 and proceeded to Government Community Secondary School, Biu and Government Science Secondary School, Potiskum, for his West African School Certificate Examinations (WASCE).
Thereafter, he bagged a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Maiduguri. He followed up in 1990 with a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Ibadan.

Federal Ministry of Livestock Development
The Minister of Livestock Development in Nigeria, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2024 to head the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development, focusing on modernizing the sector through initiatives like genetic improvement, disease control, and private partnerships to boost food security and create jobs.
He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University with a degree in political science and obtained a master’s degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University. He has been a career NNPC staff for over two decades culminating in his appointment as the Managing Director of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC). He is the managing director and CEO of Zaidi Farms Ltd.

The 9th All Africa Conference of Animal Agriculture (AACAA) will be hosted in Abuja, Nigeria from 09th – 13th August 2026 under the theme: “Innovating and Sustaining Animal Agriculture for Africa’s Food Security and Global Competitiveness.”
The AACAA is a premier continental gathering that brings together researchers, policymakers, farmers, industry players, development partners, and students to share innovations, strategies, and solutions for advancing animal agriculture in Africa. Building on the successes of the 7th edition in Ghana (2019) and the 8th in Botswana (2023), the 9th AACAA will provide a dynamic platform to address critical issues shaping the future of livestock, aquaculture, and non-traditional animal systems in Africa.
